Letting the World Fall Into Place: 100 Days of Happy: 100 Days, 100 Pictures, 1 Journey

The concept is simple; take one picture of something that makes you happy each day for one hundred days. By doing so, you develop a more positive outlook as you are continuously searching for those moments of happiness.

If you've been following my blog, you'll know that finding happiness is something that I've been struggling with lately; I have been suffering from moderate to severe anxiety, which makes this whole happiness deal much harder to attain. So, naturally, when I found out about this 100 Days of Happy project via a facebook post, I immediately signed up. Here's the link if you are interested:

If you go on the site, you'll see that there are a few different platforms to display your pictures by. As I only have e-mail and facebook, I had to choose between those two. I ultimately chose to e-mail my pictures rather than posting them on facebook because a) I didn't want to clog up everyone's facebook feeds with images of cards and food (which has been what this project has entailed so far) and b) I wanted to make this a more personal journey. This isn't a tool for me to brag to the world about my life (which really isn't that interesting anyways), but a means of self discovery for me as I continue to work towards a healthier me. However, I decided it would be useful to document this on my blog for myself and for others IF they are interested in checking in. Ultimately, this project is for me so it doesn't matter who ends up viewing this page. This is my happiness after all.

What a wonderful Gallery! I'm so glad I visited this today. Two fantastic exhibits in particular
are currently on display here - "An American in London: Whistler and the Thames," and "Kiyochika:
Master of the Night." The Whistler exhibit was super interesting and I was simply memorized by a few of the
pieces in the Kiyochika exhibit. Overall, a wonderful way to spend my day off! #100happydays

Day 93 - Saturday June 7, 2014

Went to the D.C. Pride Parade today with my roomies. It was a lot of fun and it was so cool to see so many people out
showing their support. I particularly loved when all the flags from different countries were
carried through because it demonstrates how universal LGBTQ issues are.

Day 92 - Friday June 6, 2014

Just another beautiful day in The District! I don't work on Fridays, so today I got some groceries, went to The
National Museum of the American Indian, and was able to enjoy the beautiful day! #100happydays

Day 91 - Thursday May 5, 2014

This isn't the greatest picture of this butterfly, but this is a butterfly that landed on my finger! Today there was an
event for Smithsonian Interns called "Morning at the Museum," where we got to explore the National Museum of
Natural History before it opened to the public at 10:00. One of the coolest attraction that is there (in my opinion)
is the butterfly garden! Usually there are really long lines to get into the garden, but this morning all the interns
could go in without waiting and leisurely walk through to enjoy the
presence of the beautiful butterflies! #100happydays

I love this panda! It's right next to the metro station near my
apartment so I see it every day when I commute

Karen and I finally set a Skype date after months and months of attempting to do so! Karen is from Germany.
During my freshman year of high school, she was an exchange student at my school;
we were in the same Spanish class, got to know each other, and have remained in contact ever
since then. It's just so hard to find time to Skype with our busy schedules and the seven
hour time difference, but we finally did and it was fantastic! #100happydays

The nerdy English major in me became really happy after analyzing this poem and coming
to an intelligent and interesting conclusion about it in my Gender in Literature in Culture class!
When I initially read this poem, I was super confused by it, so taking the time to work through it

Most of things I've been posting for this project are material objects; today, I realized that
I can't be truly happy until I find happiness within myself. I suffer from anxiety and depression,
as I've recently come to realize. While life is sometimes really difficult because of this, I need

First floor program in a while! We finger painted, ate foods that reminded us of childhood (fruit by the foot, gushers, frosted animal crackers, etc.), and watched TV shows from the late 1990's and early 2000's (that's The Amanda Show in the background).
